REFLECTION
Experience: This semester, I first came into contact with
the knowledge of typesetting, and I learned a lot, such as completing
the production of font animation, text layout, font design, etc.
During the learning process, Ms. Vitiyaa also gave me a lot of
suggestions and feedback, and I learned more about typesetting by
watching Mr. Vinod's videos. The knowledge I have gained in these 14
weeks has accumulated a lot of learning experience that will help me
further study typesetting courses. When completing the homework for
the typesetting course, sometimes I don’t know how to make better
work, so when completing the homework, I realized the importance of
referring to and learning from others' work to find out what needs to
be improved in my work. In this learning process, I also learned more
about how to use software such as Illustrator and Indesign better.
Observations: When I finished different assignments, I had
different discoveries. When I finished the text layout, I found that
there should be no widows and orphans in the layout. This is very
important. I didn't pay attention to it when I finished it for the
first time, but Ms. Vitiyaa pointed it out to me. When I finished the
text format and expression, I learned that the meaning of the word
itself is also important. When I finished the font design, I found
that details are very important. The design details of each letter
need to be carefully checked. I also learned to observe in the process
of completing the assignment.
Findings: During these 14 weeks of study, I made many
discoveries that can help me create better works, such as many
details: font spacing, text line spacing, golden ratio of composition,
etc. I am very happy to learn so much about typography in these 14
weeks, which allowed me to study and understand the course of
typography in such a systematic way for the first time.
