LECTURE

The lecture began by introducing us to the definitions of realism and surrealism.
  • Realism: takes as its subject the ordinary world we call 'reality'.
  • Surrealism: A variant of realism. It explores the subconscious, focuses on themes from the dream world, and often aims to distort the ordinary and what we call reality. Surrealism defies reality and is normally inspired by dreams and fantasies, full of strange images and bizarre juxtapositions.

Next, we were introduced to the definition of Dada attention:
Dadaism: an anti-war art movement whose artworks were satirical and absurd.

This is the artwork of Salvador Dalí:

Then, what is digital surrealism, and how was it explained?
Digital Surrealism is a cultural movement that focuses on expressing the artist's ideas in an art form. It is a top-level digital art.

Finally, we are shown how to create a Surrealist artwork:
  • 1. We first need to outline our idea, we don't need to retouch any details, and list the key points of the idea.
  • 2. Finding reference images and collecting them will help us to better realize the image we want to create.

WEEK 7-WEEK 10 :PROJECT 2B: POSTER DESIGN

We need to create poster design artwork using photography, fonts, and vector graphic elements. Our theme was to choose our favorite quote of the day and I chose: Love transcends time, space and dimensions.

Here are the three posters I referenced:

Quotes of the day: Love transcends time, space and dimensions.

Summary of your design concept: This is a very famous line from the film Interstellar: ‘Love is the one thing we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space.’ I chose this line because it tells us that love can transcend all limitations and gives us the power to be brave, and it is because of love that Cooper and his daughter can break through time and space and dimensions to save each other in the film. I hope to use this quote to show that love has great courage and power and that we need to be brave to do whatever we want to do.
So I refer to the three posters I have chosen to signify the meaning of this quote. I like the first poster, which uses a postmodernist design style, so I wanted to learn about the diverse and multilayered techniques used in the poster to create a complex visual effect that would express the randomness and deconstructed nature of the elements. The second and third posters I think fit my theme; the second poster uses a lot of elemental geometric elements to reflect the compositional design and uses track elements and black and white colors to express the theme of space, and the third expresses cosmic space, which fits with my theme of dimensionality and space-time elements. I will study and refer to these posters for their expression, typographic style, and use of elements.

SKETCH

Here's my sketch:

Fig.1.2 Sketch 2( Digital Sketch )

Production process:

First, I used double exposure to fuse my photo with the astronaut to express the theme of my poster.

I chose to take a photograph of the eye and a photograph of the moon in combination with the letter N so that it would realize the sense of bringing the gaze together, shuttling the N like a door to transcend, reflecting the word transcends.

I used PS to tone down the colors, contrast, etc., for the poster.

These are the photographs I used:

FEEDBACK

In this assignment, Mr. FAUZI asked us to use our own photos to create posters. I used my own photos through double exposure in PS to combine myself and the astronaut to express the meaning of my poster. When creating the poster, I found it very interesting and it allowed me to better use and familiarize myself with the use of AI and PS.
