Project 2 - Exercise 3: Kinetic
Typography
Group A: Blue Team
Selected song: Old Town Road - Lil Nas X
Work distribution in our group:

Our group discussed and finalized the fonts, color palettes, and materials
to be used in our video.

I followed the video tutorials to complete my part.
I created a camera, then I created many empty shots and linked them to a
parent element. I changed the position of each line to modify each shot.

Project 2 - Exercise 4: Donut chart
In Exercise 4, we need to complete a Motion Graphic Chart based on the
assigned chart. I created a Donut Chart.
Reference Tutorial: https://youtu.be/EgxGPlNxgtg
I completed the creation of the animated chart based on the video
tutorial.
In the tutorial video, I also learned how to create masks.
Project 2 - Exercise 5: Vector Animation
In Exercise 5, we need to create a vector animation based on the
assigned images. My assigned task is C.
First, I selected the layers I wanted to animate in Illustrator, and
placed them on different layers.
In Illustrator, I adjusted the artboard resolution to 1920x1080.
After separating the layers, I imported the file into After Effects to
create the vector animation.
I selected the bounce effect in the first few seconds.

I wanted to create the effect that the shadows of the trees would disappear
as the sun set, so I used the puppet positioning tool to control the
swaying of the shadows.

To create the effect of a flowing river, I also used a puppet positioning
tool for control.

REFLECTION
Experience:
In Project Two, I completed three different tasks: dynamic typography,
donut chart animation, and vector animation. The dynamic typography task
was completed in a group, where we collaborated to design animated text
that visually conveyed meaning and emotion. Through discussion and
teamwork, we explored how to combine motion, timing, and typography to
communicate information more effectively. In the donut chart animation
exercise, I practiced transforming static data into dynamic visual
information. In the vector animation task, I used vector graphics to
create animated elements, focusing on motion, transitions, and visual
storytelling.
Observations:
In the dynamic typography project, I observed that motion and timing
significantly impact people's perception of text. Even simple text becomes
more vivid and engaging when combined with motion and rhythm. Group
collaboration also helped us generate more creativity and gave us the
opportunity to experiment with different animation styles.
In the donut chart animation, I noticed that animation made statistical
information clearer and more engaging compared to static charts. The
gradual presentation of data segments helped guide the viewer's attention
and improve readability.
In my vector animation exercises, I realized that smooth transitions and
consistent motion principles are crucial for maintaining visual coherence.
Subtle adjustments to speed, easing effects, and motion paths can
significantly impact the overall viewing experience.
Findings:
Through Project Two, I learned that motion design plays a vital role in
information dissemination. Animation can enhance visual hierarchy, guide
the viewer's attention, and make complex information easier to understand.
This project also helped me improve my technical skills in creating
animated graphics while adhering to design principles such as timing,
pacing, and clarity. In conclusion, this project deepened my understanding
of how motion can be used as a design tool to improve storytelling and
information visualization.
