Behind the Scenes Photos:
Editing Process:
We edit the video effects in AE based on the reference video.
We first shot two shots, one was an empty shot and the other was a character
entering the shot. Then, I used the Roto brush in AE to cut out the
character.
Fig 1.1 Character cutting process
Then I imported the empty shot. In order to reflect the feeling of the
character passing through the wall, I first cut out the arm according to the
dynamics, then added a mask, drew a circle with the pen tool, and used the
mask path to follow the movement of the arm to create a visual effect of the
arm passing through first.

Next, I created a new mask and adjusted the body parts. According to the
video, I started with the legs, then the body and finally the head, and made
detailed adjustments in the mask and timeline.

Finally, I adjusted the timeline of each segment to make the video connection
smoother.
In creating the special effect of time suddenly stopping, we continued to use
AE software. In order to show that time suddenly stopped, we first added slow
motion at the moment before stopping to extend the time.

Then I added freeze frames when the phone falls to complete the feeling of
time standing still.
Color grading and atmosphere rendering:
We added the special effects video to Premiere Pro and continued editing and
storytelling.
After completing the video production, we performed color correction.
Because the original video would become exposed after being imported into
the computer, we made many adjustments in color correction to make the video
no longer exposed.
Fig 2.1 Color Correction
In terms of color grading, I used more dark brown in the first half to give
people a feeling of being suppressed. After awakening in the second half, I
adjusted the saturation to make the colors brighter, creating a contrast
before and after, reflecting the release of the character's stress.

Fig 2.3 Post-production color grading
After completing the color correction and color grading of the video, we
started to add music and sound effects. We divided the work and cooperated.
Shi Manlin searched for music and audio on Pixabay, and then we added
Premiere Pro to edit and align the audio.
I completed my dubbing. In order to reflect the mysterious feeling of my
character, I added reverb to the sound editing to make the sound more
ethereal.

FEEDBACK:
WEEK 11: Mr. Martin checked our story and thought that we needed
to add some foreshadowing to express the theme more clearly.
WEEK 14: Mr. Martin reviewed our final video and thought we were
done and the story was clear.
REFLECTIONS:
Experience: In the process of completing this shooting, we thought
about it for a long time to determine the script. In the shooting, because
there were two people shooting, we needed to adjust the camera position.
During the shooting process, we made many choices in the scene and tried
many shootings. I think it was very interesting to shoot the characters this
time. We also tried to make video special effects. I felt it was very
interesting and I learned a lot. This time, the characters made us more
tacit in teamwork.
Observation: During the video editing process, I gradually
realized that color correction and color grading play a very critical
role in the entire visual narrative. Color is not only a decorative
element of the picture, but also an important medium for conveying
emotions. By fine-tuning the parameters such as the brightness and
contrast of the picture, I can ensure the uniformity of the material on
the technical level, which is the basic task of color correction. In the
color grading process, I used a dark brown tone on the picture in the
early stage of the story to reduce the saturation and express the
feeling of loneliness and depression.
Color correction and color grading are not just "beautification" tools
in the later stage, but an important narrative language to help tell the
story. I tried a lot in this practice.
Discovery: During the shooting process, it is important to try more.
During the shooting process, we will have more inspiration and further think
about and improve the storyline. In post-production, video special effects
production is a very interesting attempt. In the process of trying to
shuttle characters, I can further master and learn After Effect.
