LECTURE
This talk begins with an introduction to the design principles we need to be
aware of in design. Design principles are rules that designers must follow in
order to create effective and attractive work. The basic principles of design
are emphasis, balance and alignment, contrast, repetition, proportion,
movement, and white space.
- Emphasis The basic principles of design are emphasis, balance and alignment, contrast, repetition, proportion, movement, and white space.

- Balance and Alignment Design principles are rules that designers must follow to create effective and attractive compositions.
Fig1.2
- Contrast Contrast creates space and difference between your design elements. Your background needs to be significantly different from the colors of the elements so that they work together harmoniously and are easy to read.
Fig1.3
- Repetition If you limit yourself to two strong fonts or three strong colors, you will soon find that you have to repeat things.
Fig1.4
- Proportion Proportion refers to the visual size and weight of the elements in a composition and the relationship between them. It usually helps to divide the design into parts rather than the whole.
Fig1.5
- Motion Motion is the control of the elements in a composition in order to direct the eye from one element to another and to convey the message correctly to the viewer.
Fig1.5
- White Space White space (or negative space) is the only space dedicated to your unadded content. White space is just that - a blank page around the elements in the composition.

WEEK 6: PRACTICAL (B)
This week Mr Fauzi has asked us to complete our homework on colouring black
and white photographs. I followed the video tutorials provided to complete the
coloring of these two photographs.
EXERCISE 1
First, we start by completing the coloring with the brush tool, then we adjust
the color filter to fit the image color.
Fig.1.1
Next, we use the selection tool to select the background area additional
selected, adjust the selected area, and complete the picture background
coloring.

EXERCISE 2
Firstly, I chose the skin color of the photo to be colored according to the
photo provided by Mr. Fauzi, and similarly, the hair was done in the same
steps.

I then used the Quick Selection Tool to select the hair and perform a
detailed optimization of the selected area to complete the coloring of the
hair.
