LECTURE

The first part of the talk introduces us to what adjustment layers are and that they can adjust the colors and tones of an image without permanently changing its pixels. Using adjustment layers, you can edit and discard adjustments or restore the original image at any time. This will make your workflow in Photoshop more flexible and efficient and is essential.

Afterward, we were introduced to the features of the Properties version of the Adjustment type.
  • Brightness/Contrast adjusts the tonal range of the image. The Brightness slider is used to adjust the highlights in the image and the Contrast slider is used to adjust the shadows in the image.
Fig.1.2
  • Levels modify the tonal values in the image by adjusting the color scale of the shadows, mid-tones, and highlights.

Fig.1.3

  • Curves lets you adjust any number of points across the entire tonal range of an image, making it the most powerful and precise tool for editing image tones.

Fig.1.4
  • Exposure lets you adjust the exposure level using three sliders: Exposure, Offset, and Gamma.
Fig.1.5
  • The selective color adjustment layer selectively modifies the number of primary colors without modifying other primary colors in the image.

WEEK 4: PRACTICAL

This week, Mr Fauzi critiqued our assignments and helped me me choose the best e-collage. And demonstrated how to change colours and filters.

WEEK 3 - PEN TOOL EXERCISE (BEST COMPOSITION):

DESCRIPTION: While learning how to make a digital collage, I learned many tools and shortcuts in Ps. I chose some pictures that fit my theme according to some photos provided by my professor, I used the golden ratio that my professor taught me to compose and finished three digital collages, after that I used the pen tool to key out the parts I needed and created different layers to finish the collage step by step, I also learned how to adjust the transparency of the pictures. In the last lesson, the professor helped me choose the third collage to optimize further and change the colors.

WEEK 4 (ADJUSTMENT LAYERS & FILTERS ):

DESCRIPTION: In the last class, the professor showed us how to adjust the colors to add filters, etc. When I was adjusting the colors after I chose the color of the goldfish, I kept the picture color-coordinated, all close to the blue and pink colors, and I had a dreamy and grotesque feeling. When I was adjusting the colors, I learned how to adjust the colors of individual items, color balance, contrast, exposure, etc. I could also adjust the overall color balance and filters.

FEEDBACK

This week Mr Fauzi critiqued our homework and helped us choose the best of the previous week's e-collages to take to the next step. He also showed us how to make colour and filter adjustments to our collages.
