FINAL PROJECT
Using your Project 1 Instructable Infographic Poster
as the base
A 60‑second animated infographic video
Video requirements:720p 1280*720px
My partner: Pan Ruining
Poster selection: We chose Pan Ruining's poster.
In the previous weeks of preparation, we first completed the timeline and
storyboard for the entire video, and determined the content that needed to be
produced.

We used Google Docs to further describe what we needed to present for each
shot.

Next, under Mr. Kannan's guidance, we began to complete our Animatic, which
would serve as a reference for our final video.
I first refined the existing storyboard, completing the basic animatic
sketches in Procreate.

Then I exported the PSD file for creating the animated storyboards using
After Effects. My partner and I divided the work: she completed frames 1-13,
and I completed frames 14-26.

Process:
Next, we determined the main colors and fonts for our video:

Next, we started editing the final video according to the division of labor in animatic. In order to better communicate and complete the video production, we completed the video editing together at my home offline.
Screenshots of the process of creating the noodle-cooking scene:
When making the meat sauce, I first created a larger scene. Then, I displayed the ingredients needed for the meat sauce, edited their position keyframes, and placed them into the pan in an arc.
I gave the pan a stir-frying feel by moving the pan's anchor point to the handle and rotating it to create the stir-frying effect.
Next, I created an empty object and a camera on this composition, and made the lens fall with the food, because I used this effect in the Kinetic Typography task.FEEDBACKS
WEEK 6: Mr. Kannan said we need to create a simple, rough animation storyboard based on the storyboard to show the movement and rhythm of the elements.
WEEK 7: Mr. Kannan said that our animation production process was clear, but the length exceeded the limit by too much, so we needed to speed things up and adjust the pacing of the video.
REFLECTION
Experience:
In the final project, we adapted the poster from Project 1 into an animated video. I collaborated with Ruining on the final video editing. At the start of the project, we planned the entire production workflow, creating the video's timeline, storyboards, and dynamic storyboards to ensure a clear structure before moving to the editing stage. Since using After Effects for animation was relatively new to us, we also consulted many online tutorials to learn different techniques. Throughout the process, we worked closely together, discussing visual transitions, pacing, and how to effectively present the cooking process from the original poster.
Observation:
I found this project quite challenging, especially in balancing technical execution and storytelling. Initially, we focused too much on presenting each step in a very detailed and clear way, resulting in a video that exceeded our expectations in length. After receiving feedback from Mr. Kannan, we realized the video needed to be more concise and engaging. This made me realize that in animation production, not every detail needs to be clearly shown; effective communication often comes from simplifying and refining the content. I also noticed that planning stages like storyboards and dynamic storyboards are very helpful in guiding the workflow, but still require adjustments during the editing stage.
Reflection:
This project helped me better understand the importance of time management, pacing, and visual storytelling in motion design. I learned that successful animation requires not only beautiful visuals but also the ability to efficiently convey information within the appropriate timeframe. It also enhanced my teamwork skills, as collaborating with partners requires continuous communication, sharing ideas, and mutual compromise. Furthermore, I am better at accepting feedback and making improvements. In conclusion, despite the challenges, this experience boosted my confidence in video editing and gave me a clearer understanding of how to balance clarity, creativity, and efficiency in animation projects.
